Our Florida Golf Adventure: State #4 of 50

There’s nothing quite like combining travel, quality time, and a shared passion for golf. That’s exactly what we’re all about. On our quest to play golf in all 50 states, we recently checked off state number four: Florida! Sunshine, palm trees, and lush fairways greeted us as we embarked on an unforgettable golfing adventure in the Sunshine State.

One of the highlights of our trip was teeing off at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. Within the magical world of Walt Disney World Resort, this stunning course isn’t just about the views—it has hosted prestigious events like the PGA Tour, the LPGA Tour, and USGA competitions, making it a must-play for any golf enthusiast.

Playing Disney’s Lake Buena Vista wasn’t just another round; it was a chance for us to share laughs, tackle tricky holes together, and soak in the magic that Disney is known for—but with a golfer’s twist. One of the most fun surprises was spotting the famous Mickey Mouse-shaped sand trap, a whimsical touch that reminded us we were playing in the heart of Disney magic.

Walking onto the first tee and knowing the golf legends who have played there gave us chills. The course, known for its challenging layout and pristine conditions, winds through gorgeous scenery with sparkling lakes, pine forests, and even a few classic Disney backdrops.

One of the more thrilling (and slightly nerve-wracking) parts of our round was keeping an eye out for the infamous Florida alligators. Warning signs near the water hazards were a clear reminder to retrieve golf balls with caution. It definitely added an unexpected element of excitement! If a ball landed near the water, we didn’t think twice about taking a drop—it wasn’t worth the risk!

Our Florida golf journey didn’t stop there. Next on our itinerary was Falcon’s Fire Golf Club, a renowned course designed by the legendary Rees Jones. Known as one of the finest public golf courses in the Orlando area, Falcon’s Fire boasts immaculate greens, expansive fairways, and a layout that challenges players of all skill levels. Falcon’s Fire Golf Club is not only recognized as one of the finest Orlando golf courses, but also nationally.

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the hospitality and the course conditions. The staff welcomed us warmly, setting the tone for another memorable day on the links. The course featured strategic bunkering, water hazards, and undulating greens that kept us on our toes.

What stood out most to us was how the course design encouraged teamwork. There were several holes where we had to strategize together—it wasn’t just about hitting the ball; it was about thinking two shots ahead. For us, that kind of collaborative play blended perfectly with our love of golf and our value for Quality Time.

Florida’s warm weather and vibrant golf culture made it an ideal destination for us. Beyond the courses, we enjoyed exploring local restaurants, taking sunset walks, and reminiscing about our rounds. If you want a good place to eat and shop without going to the big theme park, we highly recommend visiting Disney Springs, which has a little something for everyone.

One of the most fascinating experiences outside of golf was our visit to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, since Mr is a ‘Space Nerd’ he marveled at the history of space exploration and felt inspired by humanity’s reach for the stars.

Traveling together, especially with golf at the center of our trip, has become our favorite way to strengthen our bond. Golf has an incredible way of bringing us closer. We cheer each other on, offer advice, and laugh at the occasional mishit. It’s not just about the scorecard—it’s about the memories we make along the way.

As we packed up our clubs and prepared for the next state, we felt nothing but gratitude. Each course tells a story, and each trip adds a new chapter to ours. We can’t wait to see where the next fairway leads us.
